Battle of the Books Inter-school Competition
Sha Tin College – King George V School – Renaissance College
The bad news for the Battle of the Books teams this year was that this year’s competition was cancelled due to Covid-19. STC team members were very disappointed; they had read most of the 20 set titles for the competition in Term 1 and had written lots of questions to test their knowledge on minute details within each book. They were looking forward to the competition in May. The good news however was that Librarians at STC, RCHK and KGV decided if there was enough interest they would hold a friendly online competition between the schools, and of course, there was plenty of interest at all three schools! The Battle of the Books Club was back on in Term 3. Our senior BOB leaders rose to the challenge and we started Zoom practice sessions online every Monday after school.
On Monday 15th June we held our first Zoom Battle of the Books Inter-school Competition. This involved speed-typing in the chat box, three traditional rounds of BOB questions using break-out rooms and ended with an exciting Kahoot quiz with the 3 podium winners grabbing bonus points for their schools. At the end of the competition Sha Tin College were declared the winners! Our team members were awesome as they displayed incredible in-depth knowledge of the books. While it was also a lot of fun competing online, I know they are looking forward to the face-to-face competition next year.
Well done and congratulations to all members of STC BOB team.
