Annual Service trip to Sin Tin Tao

Every year, to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the service representatives from each form are encouraged to visit the Sin Tin Tao Home for the Elderly. Sin Tin Tao is a home for elderly women, many of whom are physically disabled and unable to move far from their beds. So on the 5th of February, a record number of over fifty students went to wish the elderly a pleasant Year of the Goat, in an event organized by Mr Chiu, Ms Brooks and Ms Tsim.

These student representatives brought happy messages written on bright red paper as well as plants grown by dedicated students, as well as a wide variety of presents ranging from delicious biscuits to strangely large amounts of toothpaste. During the visit, they talked to and even sang to the women there. The women there expressed their gratitude in receiving these gifts, some of them sharing some details about how they liked to spend the holiday.

Ms Liu, who manages the elderly home and corresponds with STC, said that they were delighted to receive the plants especially. She added that the women who were more agile watered these plants on a daily basis, showing us the back garden where these plants were kept and pointing out that some of them had sprouted beautiful white flowers.

In this incredibly meaningful activity, STC students showed their capacity to try to give back to society. In donating their time and resources to this altruistic cause, they spread the happiness of Chinese New Year to those who were less privileged.
