Young Musicians Festival 2015

26th October, 2015

Dear Parents and Students,

I am delighted to announce that our 14th Annual Young Musicians Festival 2015 is taking place on Thursday 5th November.

Online entry forms are available through the Young Musicians Festival 2015 Application Form or by clicking the YMF banner in SMART.  Students in all years are invited to enter as a solo performer (instrumental or vocal) or as an ensemble.  Students are welcome to perform any standard of music, on any instrument or voice and in any style they choose.  House points are available for each student’s entry in the heats with further points for finalists.

Heats will take place during the school day on Tuesday, 3rd November 2015 and Wednesday 4th November 2015.  Successful winners of the heats will be invited to perform in the Final, taking place on Thursday 5th November 2015 at 3:45pm in the Main Hall. We warmly invite parents, family and friends to come along, watch and support the students performing.  The final will be judged by music professionals working in Hong Kong with awards being announced at the end.

Awards will be given to:

  • Best solo and ensemble performance in Year 7, 8 or 9
  • Best solo and ensemble performance in Year 10 or 11
  • Best solo and ensemble performance in Year 12 or 13
  • Overall Best Solo Performance (Young Musician of the Year)
  • Overall Best Ensemble Performance

We warmly encourage all students to showcase their musical talents and participate in this superb event at Sha Tin College which gives students an excellent performance platform, with rewards through the house system and beyond.  We look forward to receiving applications and hopefully seeing you as part of the audience at the Final on Thursday 5th November 2015.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Joseph Travers
