Visit from Professor Tjonnie Li

To be able to engage a room full of IB physics students is no easy feat, but Professor Tjonnie Li did just that when he visited Sha Tin College on Wednesday 6th March to give a lecture on his experiences working in the field of physics.

The presentation, amusingly titled ‘A Career in Memes’ covered Professor Li’s early education and how he came to choose the study of applied physics in university, before detailing his work on the Nobel Prize-winning LIGO project, a project spanning 20 years and aiming to detect the minute gravitational waves that are caused by macroscopic events occurring in the universe.
