TEDxYouth @Sha Tin College
Watch any TEDx talk and you are likely to be met by an intellectual gush of adrenaline. This time, the thrill will be brought to you by Sha Tin College students who will be hosting a TEDxYouth event at the Sha Tin Junior School Main hall later this month. Akin to TEDx events, TEDxYouth events are designed for and organised by young people. Taking place on Friday, March 17 from 6pm to 8:30pm, the event is sponsored by KPMG, a professional service company that provides audit, tax, and advisory services. Tickets to the event cost $20 per student and $50 per adult.
Seven passionate student speakers will be present at the event, each of whom will be taking centre stage to share their interesting ideas on their respective topics, with Sayeeda Urbana helping the audience to understand the nature of psychopathic serial killers through her talk titled ‘The Pursuit of Murder’; Hoi Ching Leung sharing her secret to embracing the differences between individuals in her talk ‘Accepting Human Diversity.; Martha Chow providing us with her insight on reviving dinosaurs into the modern era and the implications that may induce in her talk, ‘Yes, Jurassic Park can be real’; Emily Parry discussing how the empowerment of women in films is the way forward in ‘Women will no longer be silent in film’; Yifan Ding talking about how empathy and determinism can bring you closer to everyone you meet through his speech ‘Judge Not’; Belle Ho sharing her opinion regarding the future trends in our communication channels in her talk ‘Future Language Trends’; and Joshua Chu sharing ‘My Personal Story’, where he will explain why our differences are what make us unique and why not only is he different, but special too.
Having selected both fascinating themes and speakers, the event promises to be both captivating and compelling. Any additional information regarding the TEDxYouth event can be accessed on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TEDxShatinCollege/.
