Sha Tin College Unveils New Canteen and Multi-Purpose Space

After months of anticipation, the STC community arrived back after the Easter Break to a pleasant new sight: A brand new canteen and multi-purpose space located on the Ground Floor. Although the opening was slightly delayed due to construction issues, it was undoubtedly worth the wait and has completely revitalised the school campus with its sleek and modern design.

Spanning the entire ground floor section of the second block, the new areas addressed the pressing need for additional seating capacity, and complemented the existing canteen and outside seating area. Students can now dine and unwind in a more comfortable and spacious environment than its predecessor. The multi-purpose space located adjacent to the canteen has also been an amazing addition to the school facilities. It boasts a state-of-the-art sound system and a versatile layout suitable for various activities, including meetings, workshops, and performances. Since its opening, it has hosted Student Council Meetings, TEDX, etc. The floor-to-ceiling windows invite an abundance of natural light and showcase breathtaking views of the hill.

These new facilities have generally been welcomed by members of the school community who love their design and functionality. “Our new canteen and new multi-purpose/exhibition space are bright and welcoming spaces and are being thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!” states Principal Ms. Larkin. Darren Lee (12D2) also adds: “I think it is a beautiful environment for students to learn and spend their time in. I’m really looking forward to making use of this space in the future.”

Part of Sha Tin College’s ongoing school redevelopment program which has taken shape over recent years; the new areas, along the canteen and multi-purpose space have helped modernise the school campus, enhancing the overall student experience.

The new ground floor spaces are a definite testament to the schools’ commitment to innovation and student-centred learning. They provide the school community with a contemporary and comfortable environment that encourages community building and will be a well-used and popular facility for years to come.
