Sha Tin College Health Week

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Health Week is scheduled between the dates of Tuesday 14th May and Friday 17th May 2019. Our aim is to raise awareness of the importance of Health and Well Being among our students. There will be many exciting health related activities in PE lessons, during extra-curricular time and across subject areas throughout the week. The teaching staff has worked together to ensure that the students gain a broad and more comprehensive understanding of what it means to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The theme for the week will be Five Ways to Well Being and lessons will focus on one or more elements of this. The 5 strands are:

  • Connect. With others, your family, your friends, your community…..
  • Be active. Exercise, dance, play, move your mood.
  • Take notice. Be curious. Be aware of what is going on around you.
  • Keep learning. Try something new. Sign up for that course.
  • Give. Your time, your presence, your appreciation.

To help motivate the students they can choose to ‘dress sporty’ during Health Week on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If your child is going to wear sports clothes then they must dress according to the schedule below:

Wednesday – House colours or PE kit

Thursday    – The sports team she/he supports

Friday         – The National Team from her/his country of origin or the sports team she/he plays in.

*Please note that if your child does not want to wear sports clothes then normal school uniform is expected to be worn.

This week has been fully funded by Sha Tin College PTSA and we are grateful for their continued support.  I am sure that it will be an enjoyable and informative week for everybody.  If you have any questions, or would like more information about this day, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
