School Evaluation: CIS-WASC re-accreditation visit (23rd April – 26th April 2018)

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our school’s drive towards continued improvement, Sha Tin College is accredited to two external international agencies – the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  All ESF schools are required to undergo the same 5-year accreditation process in order to gain or maintain membership of these prestigious bodies.  Sha Tin College previously was accredited in 2014, and the school is now about to begin the process of re-accreditation.
What this means in practice is that the school will undergo a Preparatory Evaluation Visit on April 23rd-26th, the second week back after the Easter holidays.  Our two accreditors, Carole Denney (from CIS) and Barbara Parker (from WASC) aim to visit all lessons during the 4 days, in order to gain a flavour of school life.  They will also observe tutor period, assemblies, and any other extra-curricular activities throughout the week.  In addition, they will be meeting with key stakeholder groups, in order to acquaint themselves with the working of the school.  Ultimately, a Self-Study Group will be formed, in order to act upon the findings of the week, and take them forward to the next stage of the process, which will be the CIS/WASC Team Evaluation in 2019.
We think it is vital that CIS/WASC gain your perspective on the school as parents, and therefore, would like to invite you to a coffee morning on Wednesday 25th April from at Sha Tin College, from 11:15am – 12:15am.   The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss your perceptions of the nature of the school, its strengths, areas for development and its nature. You do not have to be a PTSA Committee member in order to attend, and there is no long-term commitment needed from you following this one-off meeting.  Please could you let us know by email if you wish to attend, and help give your valuable views to enable our school to continue to improve in its functions.
Yours faithfully
