Top Tips for Summer

Beautiful blossoming tree in Victoria Park

There’s a different kind of feeling about summer this year. Sure, some of us don’t have a sense of burning excitement about far off adventures but there are a multitude of things to look forward to, and to be grateful for.

Advice from experts in the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ is to ‘remember simple things that give us joy’.

When I asked students for their ‘Top Tips for Summer’, here is what they said –

Here are a few of my plans, in no order:

Read a BIG stack of books Go hiking with my best friends Beat my husband at Scrabble, just once!
Visit local markets Do a 1000 piece jigsaw Try two or three online courses
Take a day- long bike ride Have a picnic on Tamar Park Check out the West Kowloon Cultural district
Have long Facetime chats with my family Try out a few new baking recipes Experiment with photos around HK, such as the one below.
Donate a bag of clothes to Christian Action Listen to more Audible Go back to the movies!
Try something new – like Pilates Set myself a challenge/goal Go for a ride on a ferry to somewhere I’ve never been.

I will be looking forward to what I CAN do because I know this is one way to show resilience and optimism. These times are sad, frustrating and concerning for the majority of people, for sure, but attitude and a positive attitude are super important.
