Taster Day 2019
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This letter provides you with information about some upcoming key events that are taking place at Sha Tin College for new Year 7 students 2019-2020.
Friday 31st May: Taster Day for current Year 6 students (students only).
This is a day for students to experience Sha Tin College. They will meet their Tutor and the other students in their tutor group and experience some lessons first-hand. All students are expected to attend and it will be a very enjoyable and worthwhile day for them. Please email our Middle School Administrator, Ms Agnes Chan at chanw78@stconline.edu.hk if your son/daughter will not be able to attend. The students should wear their current school uniform and bring their pencil case and a water bottle. They will be able to buy snacks and lunch from our cafeteria, using an Octopus card, or they can bring their own lunch. Students at SJS will be able to get their normal bus home. Parents with children from other schools will need to arrange transport home from Sha Tin College. Students should arrive at 8.35am and the day will end at 2.40pm for SJS students and 3.50pm for non SJS students. Students who do not attend SJS will complete a maths test from 2.50-3.50 in order to see which Maths group will be more suitable for them in Y7. SJS students will be completing the same test at SJS during a school day at the end of May. Students do not need to do any preparation for the test.
Thursday 6th June: Y6 Parent information Event (parents only).
This is an opportunity for parents to listen to a series of presentations from the Middle School team, focusing on key information about Sha Tin College. This will start at 6pm finish at 7.15pm. The venue for this event is Sha Tin College Hall which is on the second floor. As part of the event our Learning Support Centre will also provide information about the extra support services they provide.
I would be grateful if you could email our Middle School Administrator at chanw78@stconline.edu.hk to confirm your attendance for this event by Friday 10th May.
Saturday 15th June 9:00 am – 12:00 noon Year 7 Uniform Fitting
As you may be aware Sha Tin College is changing their uniform supplier and moving to ESF Central Procurement for uniform supply for the next academic year. To assist incoming Year 7 families a special uniform fitting session will be held at Sha Tin Junior School on the morning of Saturday June 15th. Staff from the new uniform supplier will be available to guide parents through the online purchasing process. As the sizing scale will be new to all families we recognise some of you may wish to try the new uniform on. With the transition to online sales, exchanges and returns for wrong sizing could result in additional delivery costs to families. If parents wish to order directly online themselves they may do so. The uniform supply website does provide a sizing guide. We will share the link to the website with you when the website is ready in June.
Year 7 Uniform Basics
– Shirt/blouse, Skort/Shorts, PE Top, PE Shorts
As the new uniform supplier will not provide swimming suits at this point, the PTSA Uniform Shop will continue the sale of swimming suits. Parents can also buy swimming suits on June 15th as the PTSA Uniform Shop will provide a sale stall on the day. Parents not attending the fitting day on June 15th can purchase the swimming suits in the PTSA uniform shop till 30 June 2019. After that date, the swimming suits will also be made available on the uniform supply website later in July.
Please be aware that the old STC uniform will still be in use and incoming Year 7 students can also wear that uniform.
School Bus Service
ESF Central Procurement have been working on the school bus service contract for the new school year. We will be in touch in the coming month with details of school bus enrollment.

This is the first day of term for all Y7 students. The students will complete a full day of induction with their tutor. The day starts at 8.15 and finishes at 3.20. Students need to wear their STC school uniform and bring their pencil case.
All students at Sha Tin College are required to complete Registration. This involves students submitting documentation and important payments. At the end of June, you will receive the Registration pack which will includes the forms which need to be completed as well as full information about this process. In order for students to receive their books and equipment, students need to submit all of the correct administration. Y7 Students will be registering on Wednesday 14th August as part of their induction.
Thursday 15th August: Half Day Induction for Y7 Students.
This is a further half day induction for all Y7 students. The day starts at 8.15 and finishes at 12.20. The school bus service will run on this day.
Friday 16th August: Full day of lessons for Y7 Students.
This will be the first full day of timetabled lessons. Full details about a typical school day will be given at the information evening on 6th June.
Please note that, unfortunately, there won’t be any parking available at Sha Tin College for the Taster Day on 31st May. For the Parent Information Event, on 6th June, parking is extremely limited so I advise you to make alternative transport arrangements.

If your child does not currently attend Sha Tin Junior School you will be receiving information in the next week about which tutor group your child will be in next year.
