Y13 Graduation Ball

Our Class of 2016 had an amazing graduation ball in the magical halls of Disneyland Hotel. Dressed in their best suits and gowns, they shared sentimental moments with their favourite teachers. It was a bitter-sweet night captured in light-hearted silliness at a photo booth, and in spectacular displays of musical talent.

With Christy Tsang on the piano, Shimali de Silva and Julian Wan delivered an impeccable bilingual duet; the ethereal blend of English and Italian melted the hearts of all those present, and even reduced some to tears. Leaving many in an awed trance, Lisa Cooley serenaded everyone with her beautiful acoustic rendition of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides Now’. Karen Wang and Natasha Siu sang ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’ from Glee, which was an astounding demonstration of their vocal finesse.

Shimali graced the stage a second time, this time singing Billy Joel’s ‘New York State of Mind’, with Martin Mak, Jae Won Kim, and Gerald Poon, playing the trumpet, drums and piano respectively; the jaw-dropping performance elicited a standing ovation. Concluding the evening on a crescendo, Route Twenty Five delivered their songs with charisma, livening up the ballroom and drawing everyone together for one last dance.

Thank you to everyone who made it such a wonderful night! Special thanks to the Prom Committee, Mrs. Slater, Mrs. Hoang, Ms. Parry, Ms. Lewis, and Ms. Marshall for making all this possible!
