Year 7 New Parent Informaton Evening

Year 7 New Parent Informaton Evening

Dear Parents and  Students,

Next week Year 7 students will complete their MIDYIS tests.  This is a standard testing procedure used in the ESF. MIDYIS (Middle Years Information System) is a test produced by the CEM Centre at Durham University.  It measures students’ potential and offers baseline data which adds to our knowledge of the students. The data provides some of the information we need to help build a picture of why our students learn, respond and achieve in the ways they do. By using this data carefully we can design learning programmes which can better provide for our student needs and, therefore, help them progress more effectively. We want to emphasise that this is not a test for which students can revise or prepare. There is no reason for students to feel anxious, either. All instructions will be fully explained fully at the start and students will have a few practice questions before they begin each section. All questions are multiple choice.

The Year 7 students will complete their MIDYIS test in their ICT lesson on the following dates:

  • 7D1 P1 Monday 31st August (KJR)
  • 7D2 P1 Monday 31st August (AMM)
  • 7G1 P2 Tuesday 25th August (AMM)
  • 7G2 P2 Wednesday 26th August (KJR)
  • 7P1 P4 Thursday 27th August (KJR)
  • 7P2 P2 Tuesday 25th August (GOM)
  • 7X1 P2 Monday 31st August (KJR)
  • 7X2 P3 Thursday 27th August (APD)

On Thursday, September 10, our annual ‘New Parents Information Evening’ is scheduled.  We would be delighted if you could join us.

This will be an opportunity to hear from the Principal, Mr Marc Morris, Ms Lucie Purves, the Head of Lower School, and also to spend time with your child’s Tutor.  In addition to this, we will be distributing the MIDYIS scores to all parents. (programme below)  For these reasons, we encourage you to make time in your busy days to be present.

Do be mindful that parking on our campus is extremely limited so we advise public transport as your best option.  Please notify Ms Elaine Cheuk, the Lower School Section Administrator, at the following address: elaine.cheuk@shatincollege.edu.hk by Friday September 4 so we know whether you will be here.

With thanks and best wishes
Ms Christine Rowlands
Vice Principal
