Year 11 Parent Consultation Evening – Wednesday, 31st October 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You are invited to attend this Parent Consultation on Wednesday, 31st October, 2018 where you will have the opportunity to meet and consult with teaching staff to discuss your son/daughter’s progress. You are also welcome to attend either one of the two sessions of Careers and Higher Education Seminar held on the same day. We strongly encourage the Year 11 students to also attend as this can greatly help with discussions about their learning.

Beginning Wednesday, 24th October at 12:00 noon, you can make an appointment to meet with the teachers of your child, and sign-up for the two sessions of Careers and Higher Education Seminar. This will be done via Gateway, in the Parent Consultation module. The booking system will close at 12:00 noon on Monday, 29th October. Please refer to the following link for instructions on how to make a booking:

There will be detailed floor plan and teacher seating plans at Reception and at the corridors on 2/F indicating the locations of all subject teachers on the day. Please refer to them for your scheduled appointments.

One of our Careers and Higher Education Counsellors, Mr. Stott, who will share information to support research and decision-making with your child in this area. This seminar will be held in Library at 16:00 and will be repeated again at 17:00. The talk will last approximately 20 minutes, so please be aware that during your selected seminar you should avoid making appointments to see your child’s subject teachers. Mr. Stott will also be available on the evening for those parents who have more general questions.

There is no need to make appointments with GTS teachers as students have not yet completed a major assessment and GTS teachers also teach other exam subjects. Also, we would like to point out that some classes in Year 11 have two teachers delivering the subject. In this case there may be only one of the teachers will be available for you to book with, although they have discussed in detail the progress of the students in the class.

Year 11 students will be having one to one discussions with their tutors in the week commencing the 5th November in order for such meetings to run parallel to subject feedback. These meetings will be used to discuss Post-16 academic choices and future career pathways as well as set academic targets and discuss study strategies. It is always a priority for these meetings to also focus on issues of individual student well-being.

The Gateway can be accessed at the link https://sc.tg.esf.edu.hk.If you have any difficulties logging in to or using the Gateway, please email our support desk at gatewaysupport@shatincollege.edu.hk. You are advised to bring your confirmed appointment listing with you on the 31st October. This can be printed via Gateway.

We look forward to seeing you at the Parents Consultation Evening.

Yours Sincerely,
