TEDx – Tuesday 2nd April
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am writing to you to invite you to an exciting programme of talks and entertainment.
Our third annual TEDx event is scheduled for Tuesday April 2, between 1:15 pm and 7:30 pm, in ourschool Hall.
This is part of our CAS programme and almost 60 students are involved. The event is primarily student-run, though with teacher supervision from myself and three other colleagues, Ms Marshall, Mr Melville, and Ms Gomes. The aim is to emulate the spirit of TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) conferences, by independently running a similar one (known as TEDYouth@STC) under licence from the TED organisation. Our goal is to share great ideas, to showcase student voice and for our theme of ‘Epiphany’ to inspire others.
The student TEDx Committee worked extremely hard to prepare this event and the Curation Team carefully nurtured our ten student speakers. Our programme also features entertainment pieces, talks from students representing other schools, in addition to Alumni and teachers.
Starting at 1.15pm, the audience will comprise students from P.4 and P.5 lessons. We invite students, family, friends and teachers to buy tickets at the door from 3.30pm. Ticket prices are $40 (students), $70 (adults), and those under ten years of age are free. We estimate finishing at 7.30 p.m. Food will be available during the refreshment break.
This event is being live-streamed on the school/ESF Facebook pages. The talks will also be filmed and the Student Team will edit them later.
If you have any further questions, please contact me. On behalf of the Students’ Committee, I look forward to welcoming you to our TEDx event.
Yours sincerely,
James Lewis
