Reminder – School Evaluation: CIS-WASC re-accreditation visit (23rd April – 26th April 2018)
Before Easter, we wrote to you informing you that Sha Tin College is about to undergo a Preparatory Evaluation Visit next week (23rd – 26th April) from two external international agencies – the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are looking forward to the opportunity of reviewing the purpose, policies, and practices of the school with our strive for continued improvement.
The two accreditors, Carole Denny (from CIS) and Barbara Parker (from WASC), will aim to visit all lessons during the 4 day visit, in order to gain a flavour of school life. They will also observe tutor time, assemblies, and any other extra-curricular activities throughout the week. In addition, they will be meeting with key stakeholder groups, in order to acquaint themselves with the working of the school. Ultimately, a Self-Study Group will be formed, in order to act upon their findings of the week, and take these forward to the next stage of the process, which will be the CIS-WASC Team Evaluation Visit in 2019.
We think it is vital that CIS-WASC gain your perspective on the school as parents, in line with their Standards and Practices, so would like to re-invite you to a coffee morning with the two accreditors on Wednesday 25th April at Sha Tin College in Room 212, from 11:15am – 12:15pm. We have already had a few parents volunteer for this, but would really appreciate a few more representatives. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss your perceptions of the nature of the school, its strengths, areas for development and its nature, based on the Standards and Practices set out by CIS-WASC. You do not have to be a PTSA Committee member in order to attend, and there is no long-term commitment needed from you after this one-off meeting. Please could you let us know by email if you wish to attend, and help give your valuable opinions to enable our school and community to continue to improve.
