Letter from the Principal

This week saw the return to campus of most of our students. The return has been a joyous one and students and staff have enjoyed re-connecting. It has also meant a change in routine for students and as the week progressed our students have noticed themselves becoming more physically tired, especially our Year 12! For the remainder of the academic year we will operate with a maximum of three year levels on site at any one time, which is the capacity of our eating arrangements. I am including below our schedule of classes for the remainder of the school year.

Going forward please note the following:

1) Please be reminded that the campus is open to students from 7.45 am. This allows us time to get staff onsite to take temperatures and teachers to be onsite to allow students to enter tutor rooms. Tutor time begins at 8.15 am but students can enter their tutor rooms from 8 am. Students arriving from 8 am is preferable, if families can manage that arrival time.

2) A reminder to all Year 11 parents/guardians that the online Pre IB Term 3 programme has been running since May 4th  Students are encouraged to join the various sessions on offer, many of them linked to your IBDP/CP course. The programme is due to run for another three weeks and invitations to sessions can be found in student calendars.

3) Our IB MYP authorisation will take place from June 8th – 11th. Given current travel and quarantine restrictions for the visiting team we are piloting an Online Authorisation and Verification process with the IB.  Thank you in advance to our College Council and Years 7 & 8 parent representatives who have agreed to meet with the visiting team. If any Years 7 or 8 parents/guardians would be willing to meet with the visiting team online please let Lorna Gomes know as soon as possible <lorna@stconline.edu.hk>.

4) Thank you to all of our families for their support of our Student Council fundraising initiative for Refugee Union. We have raised HK$ 30,406 so far. We are still taking donations until midnight on June 5th so please click here if you would like to donate!

5) We had the pleasure of welcoming our incoming Year 7 students to the Sha Tin College family this morning. It was a wonderful Zoom session with more than 200 participants, and the Year 6 students did a great job of joining the various break-out sessions. We can’t wait to meet our new Year 7 in person in August! We hope you enjoy the Transition Video we made earlier this year for Year 6 students.
