Environment & Sustainability: International Mother Earth Day 2022
Sha Tin College was one of five schools selected to present their environmental work at UNESCO’s recent “2022 International Mother Earth Day – Hong Kong Eco-Action Forum” on the 22nd of April! The forum aimed to promote schools, youth, enterprises and the general public to actively participate in the transformation towards carbon neutrality, and to protect our Mother Earth. The event was an accredited event celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and was published on ACT4SDGs and other UN platforms for sustainable development.
Some of the STC Environmental Council student leaders, consisting of Kadence, Allison, Sophie, and Gina, spoke at the event alongside some STC Ocean 3C members, including Gabriel, Arden, Jayden, Man Hoi and Yui Kiu. Both groups of students shared stories about their environmental work such as Ocean Week, their future plans, and ended off with a strong message about how important continuous improvement is to sustainability, even if it is just one step at a time. Congratulations to the speakers for their hard work and we hope STC will have the chance to present about environmental advocacy and sustainability in other forums in the future!
