Career Placement at Phillips Art Auction House – Fiona Coventry (Y13)

My experience at the Phillips art auction house was a very enjoyable and insightful experience. Not only did I have the privilege of learning about the global contemporary art market, I also had the opportunity to appreciate work from all kinds of artists around the world that had been put up for auction. 

During this experience I met with global contemporary art specialist – Isaure de Viel Castel. Isaure discussed her life’s journey into the art industry and insights into the intricate workings of the art world, showing her extreme passion and enthusiasm for her work. Through conversations between her and the group, I gained a deeper understanding of the various career paths available within the art industry as well as what difficulties the art industry as a whole faced due to the recent pandemic or holiday differences across the globe. 

Overall, my time at the Phillips art auction house allowed me to enjoy renowned artworks but also have an educational insight into the art world.
