A Concert in the Dark

Save the date, Oculus’ Blind Concert will be held on the evening of April 28th, 6.30 – 8pm! The concert is a twist from a usual musical experience, during which audience members will be blindfolded for a night of talent and musical appreciation. The concert, held in the Sha Tin Junior Hall, will showcase a variety of musical styles as well as feature highly talented artists across Hong Kong.

Early Bird tickets are currently available to order for $50 until the 31st of March, via the link: https://goo.gl/forms/IwaSbrTc7CbJ5Zj42

After that, ticketing is as follows: Students, $60; Regular, $80.

Who’s behind this unique concept? Oculus is a student-led project group taking part in Orbis’ Student Ambassador Campaign, a movement that encourages secondary students to raise awareness for the fight against global visual impairment. Vision is one of the most cost-effective and easy paths out of poverty. Our gift of sight is arguably the most important factor for employment. The effect of vision spreads from individuals to families to communities, helping to sustain this system.

Oculus’ other events include their Blind Book Date event as well as their annual Readathon. Reflective of the immense effort put in by the Year 12 students, they have raised over $38,000 dollars so far!

By incorporating first-hand experience of visual impairment and an evening of entertainment, Oculus aims to bring awareness of a global issue to an influential audience: international students embracing a global citizenship status.
