House System

The House system is coordinated by Senior School students who hold the prestigious positions of Head of House, Heads of Creativity, Action and Service. In addition, each Tutor Group for Year 7 – 11 is allocated a Senior School Year Coordinator to assist in the implementation of the Inter-House events.

The Houses are:

An organised programme of Inter-House events and activities in the three areas of Creativity, Action and Service helps to promote student mixing across all years and encourages a wider range of responsibilities to be undertaken. The programme includes both competitive and cooperative elements, eg. a wide variety of Inter-House Sports Competitions, Chinese New Year Door decorating, charity week events, quizzes, Inter-House Chess and Debating competitions. These annual competitions and events culminate in the presentation of the House Champions Cup at the end of the year.

Each of our four houses support a different charity.

Dragon:
Christian Action was established in 1985 as a registered charitable organisation in Hong Kong. Their mission is to serve those who are disadvantaged, marginalised, displaced or abandoned and aim to give them hope, dignity and self-reliance. Christian Action’s beliefs are based on Jesus Christ, who came to serve all people, regardless of their age, gender, nationality and religion.

Griffin:
Impact HK is a non-profit charity with an inclusive vision where everyone has a safe place to call home and cares for their neighbour. They work with people experiencing homelessness to help them settle in a safe home, restore their mental and physical wellbeing, build their self-esteem and social capital and discover their purpose.

Pegasus:
Habitat for Humanity works in over 50 countries, striving to provide safe, decent and affordable homes for the homeless and disadvantaged. They provide materials and expertise, working with volunteers and the families themselves to build good, basic shelter.

Phoenix:
Crossroads Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to ‘connect people in a broken world’. It started in 1995 as a Hong Kong based group that distributed goods to the victims of flooding in Northern China. Since then, Crossroads has grown into an organisation that annually helps to improve the lives of over 500,000 people across the globe.
