Career Placement at Phillips Art Auction House – Royden SO Y13

Over the summer, I attended the two-week Capstone Project by FRAMEWORKS, producing a final report for Phillips Art Auction House. The course was split into two parts. First, we toured Phillips Art Auction House with Isaure de Viel Castel, a senior international specialist. She provided insights into the inner workings of an auction house, particularly the selection process and how they price their collectables and antiques.

After understanding the operations, we wrote a 7-part case study report addressing the research question: “How can Phillips encourage or engage more young people in becoming young collectors and buying and selling with the brand?” Creating the report and presentation was both challenging and rewarding, as it was interesting to conduct further studies about the company.

We met again to present the case study to Ms. Alexandra Tan and an audience of approximately 10 people for review and discussion. Overall, this experience broadened my perspective on working at an auction firm and the processes behind the auction industry.
