Above and Beyond Awards: Creativity

The Above and Beyond awards took place on the 28th of June to celebrate lower school students excelling in different areas of creativity.

Teachers and students nominate students who excel in domains of creativity, whether that be singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, acting and more, and awards are given to recognise their hard work and creativity.

To start off the ceremony, Sha Tin College alumni Peggy Woo spoke about exploring the concept of talent. Ms. Woo is an excellent piano player, and during her time at STC, turned down a law school scholarship to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. During her talk, she spoke about her personal experience in overcoming obstacles during her journey as a musician. She also shared, “talent is not just an innate ability, it involves hard work and dedication… what matters most is passion.”

Students receive their awards in the ceremony.

Yanni Ng of 10P2 was one of the students who received a record number of nominations. She has showcased talent in areas such as acting, composing, singing, and writing throughout the school year. She expressed, “I feel really honoured that people saw I had some creative talent. I never felt that I would be good enough.”

Congratulations to all those who received an above and beyond award for their creative talent.
