Year 10 Practice Exam Revision Tips
Dear Y10 Parents and Students,
As we are sure you are fully aware the Y10 iGCSE practice exams will take place from 22nd May to 1st June 2017. This is the first time students in Y10 will face the challenge of planning extensive revision in order to prepare for back to back exams. We know this period of time can be stressful for students (and their families). The students will need a great deal of support from you and from us.
We would like to recommend the following website and app http://www.stopbreathethink.org/. Y10 students should be familiar with this guided meditation app from GTS lessons and assemblies. It is a useful means of continuing to use the mindfulness course that students are currently following in their GTS lessons. As with all such approaches it is incredibly helpful if teachers and parents support these initiatives. The following article is a good basis for interested parents to understand this method further:
We strongly recommend that a structured and consistent revision schedule is an effective way of alleviating stress for students. Therefore creating, and sticking to, a revision timetable is an important and positive first step. Most students in Y10 GTS lessons have already created a revision timetable. An example template for a revision timetable is below:

We also want to highlight the importance of sleep for academic performance. Students, in order to perform at their best, do need to get to bed at a reasonable time and enjoy sleep that is uninterrupted by the use of phones/tablets/laptops. For further information about the importance of a good night’s sleep please read the attached article from the sleep foundation:
Our primary goal in the Middle School is to guide the students to be happy and successful and your support is vital in achieving this.
Kind regards
Sian May
