STC & SJS Eco-Friday on June 8th

Dear Parents and Guardians,
On Friday 8th June, STC and SJS students are trying to reduce congestion and pollution on the road leading up to school by encouraging and challenging the community to get to school without using a private car.  Students are encouraged to use public transport or to use the free shuttle bus to school.
If you are planning to bring your child to school by car on Friday morning, please consider dropping them off at Fo Tan MTR bus terminus, Au Pui Wan Street.  There is a passenger drop-off point.  They will then be able to get to school using the free shuttle buses, which will be running from 7am.
Some STC students have already signed up to a “Walk to School” with some students even cycling to the meeting point at Fo Tan MTR using bike-sharing services.  A group of teachers will be walking with the students using the paths through Sui Wo Court.  They will leave Fo Tan MTR at 7.00am from the meeting point at Exit B and arrive at school by 7.45am. If there are inclement weather conditions, the walk will be cancelled.  In this situation the shuttle bus will then bring those students up to the schools.  In support of the students, teachers will also be carpooling on the day.
Our students often challenge us to reflect on our practices and habits.  We have a wonderful group of students across both schools who are really engaged by environmental and sustainability issues.  Your support of this initiative will therefore be greatly appreciated.  I hope you also enjoy the attached video from our students encouraging you to get involved to make a difference!
