Sha Tin College’s Assessment and Academic Honesty policies

 Dear Parents and Guardians

I am writing to update you on Sha Tin College’s Assessment and Academic Honesty policies.

The Senior Leadership Team decided in 2014/15 to move towards a system of live reporting, i.e. reporting would take place during the academic year with all departments reporting at least once per term, based on class tests and assessments. As a result, there are no longer end-of-year reports. Students in Year 10 and Year 12 will continue to receive reports for their end-of-year examinations and those in Year 11 and Year 13 will continue to receive mock examination reports.A focus group worked throughout the 2015/16 academic year to set up a formal assessment policy, as per the recommendations made to the College by the International Baccalaureate Organization and the Council of International Schools. This policy was submitted for teacher feedback and was approved by the SLT at the end of last term. You can read the policy document via the link here.

We have also formalised our Academic Honesty Policy. Students in Year 10 – Year 13 need to pay particular attention to this policy as suspected cases of academic malpractice are treated very seriously by the various examination boards. Malpractice includes, but is not confined to: plagiarism, collusion, the duplication of work and missing deadlines for Internal Assessments (coursework). The policy document can be read via the link here.If you have any questions about these two policies, please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards

Paul Hoang
