Discussing and recording the advice from Year 13 Parent Consultation Evening

Dear Parents/Guardians of Year 13 Students,

Since after their end of year examinations last year, the students in the graduating class of 2017 have been target setting and tracking their own progress on Google Sheets. Now we would like you to discuss some of the contents with your child.
The students can record the advice from Tuesday evening into the yellow column in their spreadsheet (see figure 1). This can be done in one of two ways:
  • they attend the Parent Consultation Evening along with you and type the advice in as they receive it, using their laptops
  • you make a note of the advice as you go around by making notes and then you discuss the subject specific recommendations with your child as s/he enters it into the “next steps” column

Whichever method you choose, it is important that you have conversations about the next steps suggested by your child’s teachers. Additionally, you should continue to use this spreadsheet to talk to them about their learning. In particular, monitoring what they enter into the ‘What I have done about it’ (column K) is something that you can do on an ongoing basis.
If your child is not able or willing to show you their spreadsheet, please email us on bartonj1@stconline.edu.hk
Kind regards
